Technical information
Structure of a GI-RO stair tread
We manufacture the GI-RO stair treads from three different components: a tread surface made of pressed-in gratings, a perforated nosing and side plates. We provide the side plates of the stair treads with a hole and a slotted hole for simpler assembly. With the perforated profile stepping edge, we increase the load-bearing capacity with simultaneous slip resistance. All in all, these production steps ensure a sure footing on every single GI-RO grating step.
Perforated nosing
Safety first. This is especially true of our stair treads. For the perforated nosing we use corresponds at least to slip-resistance class R10 according to BGR 181. The perforated nosing is also available in different heights.
Plug-in side plate
Our technically-protected plug-in system is integrated into our stair treads as standard. It provides a positive and force-transmitting connection between the bearing bars and the side plate. The standard side panel is manufactured in accordance with DIN 24531-1 - however, we can also produce other individual formats or bore dimensions on request.
Bearing bar and crossbar types and mesh pitches
Cleverly combined: All features mentioned can be combined to a certain extent. Would you like to know which gratings we can produce for you? Then please contact us. Our sales team is looking forward to meeting you.

Materials and surface finishes
Depending on the intended use, our grating stair treads are available in various materials and with different surface finishes. As standard, pressed-in gratings are manufactured in S235JR steel and are hot-dip galvanised according to DIN EN ISO 1461. On request, we can also manufacture pressed-in gratings in stainless steel or aluminium.
Slip resistance
Dirt, oils, grease or water on accessible floor coverings or staircases always mean an increased risk of slipping. Even in such cases, our grating stair treads with special slip resistance offer outstanding grip. Our grating stair treads offer high slip resistance by means of varying recesses in the bearing bars and/or crossbars. Depending on the profile, our treads thus fulfil the requirements of the R10 to R12 rating classes.
