Gratings and Escape Staircases for the Highest Demands

Schmitz Cargobull, headquartered in Altenberge, is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of semi-trailers and vehicle bodies for commercial transport. Founded in 1892, the company operates a major production site in Vreden, where refrigerated and box trailers are manufactured for freight transport. Approximately 2,100 employees work at the Vreden facility.

GI-RO supplied the pallet racking warehouse with inlaid gratings and the cantilever racking system with onlaid gratings. In total, 3,852 square meters of storage space have been equipped so far. A distinctive feature of Schmitz Cargobull’s logistics operations is the diversity of load carriers, ranging from grid boxes and Euro pallets to stacking boxes and heavy-duty containers.

We were also commissioned to supply a Vario spiral staircase: 6.2 meters high, 2.2 meters in diameter, with 31 non-slip steps and two landings. The staircase was designed and built for maximum structural stability and is certified for use as an emergency escape route.
